Rounding the Corner

Happy July good reader. I hope the summer is treating you well thus far.

It’s been a while since last we talked and I hope you’ll pardon my absence. I’ve been rather busy trying to finish the edits on my most recent revision. I’m happy to say that the work is almost over, at least on the editing front. By the time this actually posts, I’ll be on the final third of the novel, with an end date in sight.

If you’ve been keeping up with me on TikTok or Twitter then you’ll know I’ve been talking about editing a LOT. These videos and posts aren’t truly meant as a complaint, editing is one of the most important parts of the whole book writing process, and I’m excited to have it finished (at least this phase of it).

One thing it has done for me that I’m not sure I was originally expecting… editing has made me a much better writer. I haven’t been adding much to my other stories, but when do, I can see the improvement in my abilities. It may sound like a trivial or silly thing, but these small changes are meaningful.

So what’s next? First things first, I’ve got to finish the edits, which I will be doing over the next week or so. After that, my manuscript will go back to the beta readers to make sure the revisions were successful. Beyond that I still have some final edits and formatting to go through. Plus all the fun stuff like getting a cover, filling any acknowledgement pages, and so on and so forth. It will take patients and time, but I’m determined and as the name of the post implies, a corner has been rounded.

Until next we read together, take care!
